Meet Dr. Cris Kaiplinger
Chris Kaiplinger is the original dentist at Norman Park Dental Surgery. Prior to opening the surgery in 2008, Chris spent 28 years practicing in Darwin. Originally from Austria, he graduated from the University of Sydney in 1978, and has over 40 years experience in private dental practice as well as working in remote communities in Australia and overseas. He continues to be inspired by advances in treatments and the latest digital technology, and is a member of the Australian Dental Association and the Vardiman Dental Study Club.
My first and foremost endeavour is to teach you everything you need to know to keep your teeth healthy, functioning and for life. My motto is “The best dental treatment is the treatment you don’t need to have”. Prevention in dentistry is totally achievable but is predicated by the absence of bulk oral bacteria. In most cases daily effective plaque removal will improve your oral health greatly and prevent toothaches.
My other emphasis is on preserving as much natural tooth structure as possible. Providing what remains of a tooth is sound, there is no reason why even badly damaged teeth cannot be restored to provide effective and lasting service. Modern CAD-CAM ceramic tooth restorations, including tooth fillings, veneers and crowns, combined with dental bonding techniques are making this eminently possible. Function begets form, so if it looks like a tooth, it will work and feel like a tooth.
